Though flexible to handle when attached to the telescope (with simple Velcro fastening) the AE Light-Shroud becomes a rigid part of the telescope and does not (unlike competing products) flap about in the wind and intrude into the light path by "billowing" into the area within the truss poles.

This great new accessory from Astro Engineering allows you to attach your Meade MySky to any photographic tripod (or telescope piggy-back camera mounting) and also attach an optical or green laser pointer of your choice (available separately).

When used with a green laser pointer - (not included but available seperatly) the Meade MySky becomes a hand-held pointing device that can be used in any comfortable position - there is no need to use the arms-length gun sight as the laser will allow pointing with a relaxed arm attitude. Using the AC695 the MySky can also be usefully mounted on tripods and other mounts (telescope piggy-back camera mounts) to stabilise the MySky and greatly improve usability and function.

Standard twin hole finders can also be used with the AC695.

No T thread adaptor needed!

The Max DSLR fits directly to the camera body without the compromise of a separate T ring adaptor. The dedicated bayonet fittings (No T thread!) allow wider throats and significantly lower overall profile than conventional T-thread adaptors. The improvement is as much as 4mm in aperture and as much as 6mm overall length - so less chance of vignetting and a lot more focus latitude when used with modern short focus refractors. These gains are when the Max DSLR is compared with well designed low-profile 2" adaptors; (eg the AE AC493) with other 2" adaptors out there the advantages are even more strident: as much as 10mm wider aperture and 20mm shorter!

Not only better, it's cheaper too! The design is not limited by the constraints set by the T-thread and there is no risk of weight of the camera unscrewing the T-mount in use. Another strong benefit is that the user does not need to purchase a separate T ring adaptor, making the adaptor actually cheaper than other solutions!

Most modern Newtonian telescopes have the focuser positioned very near the end of the tube and this allows stray light from the area directly opposite the focuser to enter the open end of the eyepiece and cause a lowering of contrast and a reduction in the telescope's apparent light-gathering power - which in turn, reduces the observers ability to detect and view faint targets.
