The Lodestar Stand-alone Autoguider is a compact device, not much bigger than a 20mm Plossl eyepiece, that can also be used as an imager. Taking its power and control from a USB port it has optically-isolated outputs that can be connected to most telescope control systems that have autoguider inputs.

'Stand-alone' refers to its ability to calculate and issue error corrections directly to an ST4-type interface without using an external PC. You do need a PC to set up the Lodestar and select the guide star.

• LVI

The SmartGuider is a stand-alone autoguider, a tool that many astronomers have been awaiting for a long time. It plugs straight into the guiding port of most telescope mounts and does not need a PC or laptop to run it. Avoid the problems of running two cameras from your laptop with the port clash and power problems this often brings. Dispense with the laptop completely for DSLR photography.

Autoguider camera head for use with all SXVF cameras. Use this on a separate guide scope or optical feed to avoid the problems associated with guiding through the filter in front of the main imaging camera. SXVF cameras incorporate fully-integrated controls to support this guider.

Supplied with a 1.25" push-fit nose it can also be used with CS mount camera lenses. Plugs directly into the back of the camera or via an optional splitter if the camera is to control serial devices as well.

This autoguider is similar to the basic autoguider but uses a larger quarter-inch CCD chip to give greater sky coverage.
