The Astronomical Patrick Moore Ref: GW-TAPM
"With a little help from Prof Richard Gregory, Dr Allan Chapman, Brian May and two surviving producers from his 50 year reign, the last great British television personality opens the door on his extraordinary life, from lift-off to TV icon of the Space Age. On the way he imparts his equally unconventional views on bureaucrats - and how to annoy them, politicians - and how to ignore them, and the 'final frontiers' he hopes await us." This description is taken from the cover of the DVD and gives an idea of what's on it. What it doesn't do is convey what a brilliant piece of work it is. Originally planned as a BBC programme the producers decided to go it alone after protracted contract discussions that were going nowhere. Thank goodness they did because I am sure the story is all the better for not being subject to the political correctness police. This is pure unadorned Patrick telling his own story in his own inimitable way. Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant as he tells why he remains a reluctant batchelor, but always with his wry sense of humour lurking round the edges. This is a real classic and every Patrick Moore fan should have one. Patrick comes across as a true gentleman but one with strong views who doesn't take fools gladly. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did. Price: £12.98 (Including VAT at 17.5%)
