 | Reproduction Ivory Diptych Sundial Ref: LH-A112
IVORY DIAL This dial is hand made and hand painted. It has not exactly been established when a magnetic compass was first added to a sundial. The first portable compass-sundial was already known in 1480 in Nuremberg, which was the first city in Europe to have an organized trade of compass makers. According to the craft rules, compass dials were to be made in ivory or good quality boxwood. The sundial you have acquired is a perfect replica of the one signed by Hans Troschel dated in 1626 and it is totally handmade in ivory resin. Price: £91.99 (Including VAT at 17.5%)
