Celestron EdgeHD Telescopes

Celestron have taken the Schmidt-Cassegrain optics they did so much to popularise and have modified them to meet the increasing demands of today's astrophotographers and their modern detectors.

Digital detectors have transformed astrophotography with their greater sensitivity, linearity, dynamic range and low noise. Initially their small size meant that existing optical designs were adequate to illuminate them fully with sharp images, but as chip sizes have grown it has become necessary to develop new optical designs to match them.

Celestron's EdgeHD design produces a large, flat focal plane with pin-sharp images right out to the edge, just what the demanding astrophotographer needs.

Not only that, Celestron have made the new telescopes Fastar Compatbible meaning you can use them with Hyperstar for fast, wide-field prime focus imaging at f/2.

EdgeHD optics are available on Celestron's CGE and CGEM mounts, and as optical tube assemblies.

CGE PRO 925 HD Computerized Telescope Ref: DH-11092

The 9.25-inch version is the smallest of the CGE PRO Edge HD range but is a massive performer with over 33% more light collecting area than an 8-inch telescope. Its flat, coma-free focal plane and sturdy computerised mount make it suitable for visual observations and high-quality imaging. The mount can carry the 14-inch OTA offering an upgrade path should you want to go larger in the future.

The CGE Pro 1100 HD combines Celestron's state of the art CGE Pro Computerized Equatorial mount with its new EdgeHD optical system. With an optical tube assembly weighing only 28 lbs., this telescope is still portable enough to be taken to dark skies, and has 89% more light gathering power than an 8" telescope and 40% more than the 9.25".

For astrophotography, the German Equatorial mount offers easier balancing, unlimited space at the rear of the telescope tube to mount a camera, and whole sky access. Now you can enjoy all of the NexStar software and database features with the extra stability and portability of a German Equatorial mount.

The ultimate astrophotographer's telescope. Its large collecting area, flat coma-free images and one of the sturdiest equatorial mounts in its class combine to provide superior performance for the discerning astronomer.

The CGE PRO 1400 HD telescope is equally at home in an observatory or out in the open in your back yard or on an expedition to a dark site. Unlike fork-mounted telescopes where the optical tube and mount are an integral unit, the CGE PRO allows you to break the telescope down into manageable parts, and the optical tube assembly weighs just 45 lbs, a little over 20 kilos.
