Celestron's Edge HD optical tubes have been developed to provide flat, well-corrected images for visual observation and imaging. In particular, the designers were aiming to meet the demands of large CCDs and Digital SLRs. At the same time they wanted to make the systems affordable. They have met all their objectives and Edge HD optics have gained widespread praise and several prestigious awards.

The 8-inch. 9.25-inch and 11-inch optical tubes are now available on Celestron's latest computerised CGEM mounts to provide portable systems suitable for high-quality visual observing and imaging.

The CGEM 800 HD combines Celestron's newly designed CGEM Computerized Equatorial mount with its new EdgeHD optical system. With over 8 inches of aperture and their premium StarBright XLT coatings, the CGEM 800 HD gives you over 800 times the light gathering power of the unaided eye.

Supporting an optical tube of only 13 lbs, the CGEM 800 HD is the lightest and most portable in its class.

CGEM 1100 Edge HD Computerized Telescope Ref: DH-11082

CELESTRON 11082

The CGEM 1100 HD combines Celestron's newly designed CGEM Computerized Equatorial mount with its new EdgeHD optical system. With an optical tube assembly weighing only 28 lbs., this telescope is still portable enough to be taken to dark skies, and has 89% more light gathering power than an 8" telescope and 40% more than the 9.25".

For astrophotography, the German Equatorial mount offers easier balancing, unlimited space at the rear of the telescope tube to mount a camera, and whole sky access. Now you can enjoy all of the NexStar software and database features with the extra stability and portability of a German Equatorial mount.
