Meade LXD75 Telescopes

Meade's LXD75 mount is a sturdy, computer-controlled equatorial mount and tripod which can be ordered with a range of different optical tubes to suit all needs.

LXD75 mounts have certain advantages over most fork-mounted telescopes. They can be polar-aligned to eliminate image rotation without the addition of an equatorial wedge. This is essential for long-exposure photography. The optical tube can be removed from the mount making it easier to handle larger telescopes. (In most fork-mounted telescopes the tube and forks are an integral unit making them heavier to handle.)

Choose from two refractors, one Newtonian, three Schmidt-Newtonians and an Advanced Coma-Free Catadioptic Telescope. They all offer very high performance and excellent value for money.

LXD75 Refractors

For lovers of large refractors we offer a 5-inch achromatic refractor on the LXD75 mount. There is nothing to compare with the thrill of lunar and planetary observation with a large refractor. And this aperture is also large enough to provide stunning deep-sky views as well.

LXD75 Schmidt-Newtonian Telescopes

Adding a Schmidt corrector to Newtonian optics provides sharper images across the full field of view by correcting for coma. The result is a more pleasing view where objects around the periphery look just as good as those in the centre. The corrector plate also helps prevent dust and moisture reaching the primary mirror, keeping it cleaner and prolonging the life of the coating.

The wider corrected field also makes the Schmidt-Newtonian better for photography than a standard Newtonian.

The sturdy German Equatorial Mount is accurate and precise. The RA and Dec axes move effortlessly on four high-precision stainless steel ball bearings.

High-Precision Worm Gears Located on both axes for smooth tracking and slewing.

For even more precise pointing use the HPP function. HPP puts objects in the center of the field-of view which allows you to confirm deep sky objects at the faintest limits of the telescope’s capability.

Corrects periodic errors on the RA axis over the course of one or more training periods, thereby minimizing guiding corrections during long-exposure photography.
