Skymax PRO Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescopes

Maksutov-Telescopes have long been renowned for high-contrast planetary images. Their optical design is inherently free of false colour and they are a much more cost-effective option than an expensive refractor.

Sky Watcher offer a 6-inch (150mm) and a 7-inch (180mm) optical tube on a variety of equatorial mounts allowing you to choose the combination that suits you best, whether you want a basic mount, one with motor drives, or one with a full precision GOTO system.

The optical tube assemblies (OTAs) are also available separately for those who want to use them on an existing mount or a heavy-duty tripod for terrestrial observation.

In common with all Maksutov-Cassegrains they have long focal lengths which restricts the lowest magnification and maximum field of view that can be achieved. Apart from this restriction their high contrast and superb image quality provide excellent deep-sky performance.

6-inch (f/12) Maksutov-Cassegrain OTA

This is an ideal telescope for high power planetary viewing as well as imaging. The Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system provides a long focal length in a compact package with a small central obstruction. The image is free of false colour making it a much more cost-effective option for a planetary viewer than an apochromatic refractor.

It is also an ideal large-aperture spotting scope for use at high magnification. In this application, an image-erecting prism can be added to give a correctly oriented view.
