Inexpensive Starter ScopesThese telescopes are most suitable for young people starting to take an interest in astronomy. They offer an inexpensive way to get started and will give good views of the brighter objects in the sky. They will show lots of detail on the Moon; craters, mountains and rills. Saturn's rings and Jupiter's Moons are well within their grasp, as are all the Messier Objects, the amateur astronomer's favourite target list. Most of these will appear as 'faint fuzzies' but the larger ones such as the Orion Nebula will show some detail. They are fitted with standard 1.25-inch eyepieces, unlike many telescopes available from department stores which have inferior eyepieces. |
