HEMISFERIUM Scottish mathematician John Napier invented this form of calculater in 1617 as a method of performing multiplications and divisions. It consists of a set of rods with numbers on them which became known as Napier's Bones. This set contains ten rods and a board which doubles as a handy storage case.
