The Silver Birch Log is ideal for those who prefer a more natural look in the garden. The 32mm hole is suitable for species including Great Tits, House Sparrows and Nuthatches. To clean, simply unscrew one side of the lid.
As this is natural product there will be some variations in dimensions.
Male Wrens tend to build several nests in holes, walls or trees for the female to select from. You can help to reduce his workload by putting up this specially designed nest box which may also be used for roosting in winter.
This attractive, flat based open nest box has been designed specifically with the Robin and Wren in mind.
With its open front and larger size, this nest box has been specially designed for Blackbirds, but you may find that Robins and Wrens are also attracted to it. Blackbirds can have up to five successful broods in one year so don't remove any old nests until the breeding season is well and truly over (October onwards).
Once one of our most common wild birds, House Sparrow populations have declined sharply in recent years, partly due to a lack of natural nesting sites. Help combat this by erecting a House Sparrow Terrace, so-called because the inside is split into chambers to fit three pairs of these colonial, social birds.
The Starling is also a declining species, falling by more than 60 per cent in the past 30 years. This box provides an ideal man-made alternative site.
Natural nesting sites for swifts are becoming harder to find as we smarten up our homes, filling in the gaps that used to provide refuge.
This swift nest box has been carefully designed with the entrance hole facing downwards which allows the Swifts to fly up and into the box easily, increasing the likelihood of occupation. This arrangement also deters other birds such as starlings and house sparrows which have a reputation for squatting in more traditional swift boxes.
Boxes should be positioned as high as possible and close to the eaves. A clear space beneath the box is needed so the swifts call fall away to take flight.
Dimensions Height: 17.5cm, width: 43cm, depth: 26.5cm, entry slot 3cm
Increase the chances of swifts finding the nest box quickly by playing this CD of Swift Attraction calls.
For best results site your speaker near or even in the box and play it from late April to early June when returning swifts are looking for nest sites, and again in late July when fledglings are window shopping for next year.
Treecreepers naturally nest in narrow gaps and clefts or behind the loose bark in mature trees. If you don't have suitable trees in your garden this specially designed nest box offers an excellent alternative.
Nest Box Plates screw directly over the hole of wooden and Eco nest boxes. Available to fit three sizes of hole, these sturdy plates will prevent squirrels, woodpeckers and other predators enlarging the hole and reaching the young birds inside.
