PRO Series SynScan Mounts and Accessories

SynScan is a computerised GOTO System that will find and track objects automatically. It is easy to set up and operate. Novices and experienced users will find it invaluable. Sky Watcher have fitted it to a range of mounts catering for small, medium and targe telescopes.

It is available in telescope packages offered in other sections of our catalogue, but here we make the SynScan Mounts available for those who want to use them with their own telescopes.The four mounts are the NEQ3, the EQ5, the HEQ5 and the EQ6. The NEQ3 is the lightest and is suitable for small telescopes. Load carrying capacity and weight increase up to the EQ6.

The SynScan system is also available separately for anyone wanting to upgrade their existing mount. We recommend using a rechargeable power supply with any of these mounts. It is cheaper and more convenient than using dry cells, amd safer than running off a mains power supply, especially when the dew falls. The 7Amp-hour version is suitable for most uses but a 17Amp-hour pack is available for anyone needing to run other equipment as well.

The EQ3 PRO SynScan mount uses the same Go-To system found in the HEQ5 and EQ6 PRO SynScan mounts. It allows you to point the telescope at a specific object or even tour the skies at the touch of a button. Its extensive database includes a massive 42,900+ night sky objects.

The EQ3 PRO SynScan mount is a perfect instrument for novice visual observers and imagers to enjoy astronomy with minimal setup time and little knowledge of the night sky.

Please note that the handset holder is designed for a different tripod so we suggest you use a cord or velcro to secure it when not in use.

Upgrade handset to convert an HEQ5 or EQ6 Syntrek mount to full GOTO capability. Both Syntrek mounts already have the GOTO motherboard, motors and encoders necessary for GOTO operation so this handset is all that is needed to upgrade them.

For V.2 owners wanting to upgrade, the V.3 SynScan hand control includes new features such as: Firmware-updateability via the internet, Pointing Accuracy Enhancement (PAE), and capability to store star alignment data. Also can accept new GPS mouse attachment.
