In designing the Panoptic eyepieces Al Nagler sought to achieve tack-sharp images right across their 68-degree apparent field of view. He succeeded admirably which is why the Panoptic range is so popular. They also have long eye-relief making them suitable for use with or without spectacles.
This compact 1.25" eyepiece may well be the best alternative to a 16mm Nagler, considering size, weight and cost. It is spectacular with the Bino View as well, and is parfocal with TeleVue 1.25" Plossls and Naglers.
24mm Panoptic with 1.25" fitting. 0.5 lbs.
The 27mm is lighter and smaller than the 35mm. It provides more magnification and darker sky background, yet still allows full field viewing with eyeglasses. It's perfect for any telescope size, type or speed with a 2" focuser. With the Genesis-sdf, it gives 20x and a true field over three degrees.
The 35mm has the largest true field, with plenty of eye-relief for eyeglass wearers.
When combined with a Paracorr, to correct the coma of a Newtonian, performance is spectacular across the 68-degree field. Expect to get sharp star clusters, right out to the edge of the field.
