Explorer 190MN DS-PRO Maksutov-Newtonian Telescope Maksutov correctors are well-known for their small central obstruction compared to a Schmidt corrector but are most commonly encountered in Maksutov-Cassegrain optical systems. When combined with a newtonian optics they can produce even smaller central obstructions to give even higher contrast and delightfully sharp images. In fact, their perfomance is very close to that of a top-of-the-range apochromatic refractor but at a fraction of the price. The 190MN is an excellent example of the type and is especially suitable for astrophotography, although you may be so captivated by the visual images that you forget about your camera. And now the 190MN has been improved further and comes with a two-speed precision focuser to make it even easier to exploit its inherent quality. It is available as an optical tube assembly for those who already have a suitable mount, or as a package with the EQ6 PRO Synscan mount.
