SolarView Telescopes and FiltersSolarView Telescopes and Filters are made to professional standards to provide you with the best h-alpha views of the Sun available. Each consists of an energy rejection filter to remove UV and IR and to control the final brightness of the image, a narrow-band Fabry-Perot Etalon with a bandpass of 0.7 angstroms, and an order sorting filter to remove unwanted harmonics of the fundamental wavelength. The end result is a telescope that not only looks and feels good, but which performs superbly. It is suitable for visual or imaging use, producing exquisite levels of detail. Unlike some competing models the aperture is completely clear with no central obstruction. This gives the level of contrast you would expect from a high-quality refractor. You can purchase dedicated telescopes complete with the filters installed. Alternatively, filter sets suitable for use on a range of refractors are available. For even higher wavelength resolution there is the option of two stacked etalons in series. Designed and made in Britain. |

SolarView Filter Systems SolarView H-Alpha Filter Systems are also available separately for observers who wish to use them on TeleVue and other telescopes. The filter system is shown fitted to a TeleVue Pronto. Single-pass and double-pass systems are available in each size. Single-pass systems use a single etalon to provide the basic 0.7 Angstrom bandpass. Double-stacking provides a narrower pass band to improve contrast and wavelength resolution. The image below was taken by Jack Newton using a double-pass 50mm filter. |
