Jeffrey Barham hasn't bought a telescope from Green Witch because he made his own 10-inch Dobsonian a few years ago with help from friends at the Cambridge Astronomical Association. However, he often drops in to see us and usually finishes up making the tea for other visitors.

He was turned onto astronomy as a teenager and came back to it when he retired as a primary school teacher a few years ago. He is interested in hunting down deep sky objects, but has a particular fascination for the Moon. He likes reading about the history of astronomy and is at present trying to build up a collection of postage stamps on the theme.

He lectures for the University of the Third Age in Cambridge, as well as running weekend courses at Knuston Hall, an adult education centre in Northamptonshire. He is a regular contributor to the journal 'Popular Astronomy', and is always willing to show friends what there is to be seen up there. He can be contacted on 01223 263550.

The picture of Jeffrey was painted by a talented local artist who thought he had an interesting face. If you would like further details of her work, please contact Green Witch.
