Another Total Eclipse hidden by clouds
But Lesley Vertue took these photos before the cloud rolled in

Total Lunar Eclipse
The Moon before and during the eclipse
The Lunar Eclipse on the morning of Friday 21st January was obscured by cloud for many people in the Cambridge area. However, Lesley did manage to see the first part of the eclipse and took the accompanying photos before the cloud rolled in.

Both photos were taken at Dry Drayton, Cambridge, UK with a Canon SLR camera attached to a 90mm Meade ETX Astro Telescope. The first shows the full Moon shortly before the eclipse began, the second shows it just before the cloud came over and hid it completely from view.

Neil's mother, Gladys, watched the eclipse in Yorkshire in the North of England and enjoyed a brilliantly clear view. This was the first lunar eclipse she had ever seen. Last year she had a clear view of the total solar eclipse in France (one of the lucky few) so it might be worthwhile checking where she plans to be for the next big astronomical event.
