A little bit of background
Steve is a regular visitor to Green Witch, having taken up astro-imaging in January 2007. He's put a tremendous amount of time and effort into it and now produces excellent results. He often calls in on a Saturday morning and is always willing to talk about his work and pass on advice.

Since I set up this web page Steve has started using a Hyperstar. This is a field-flattener and corrector that produces an f/2 focal plane at the prime focus of his Celestron C8. You can read about the Hyperstar at hyperstar.green-witch.com and see Steve's results on his web site. The Hyperstar gives a larger field of view and cuts down the exposure time substantially. Jack Newton is using one on a 14-inch Meade at the Arizona Sky Village and in one of his early trials he took a set of 30 one-minute exposures of the Pleiades. These revealed over 50 galaxies in the background.
